“Obesity” is a major risk factor that is linked to severe coronavirus disease – Overweight males in particular
have to be careful
According to the article below, “obesity” is a major risk factor that aggravates novel coronavirus infection
disease. As a matter of fact, while watching a medical front in Italy on TV, my wife recognized that all of male
patients with ventilators were overweight. Since then, we have come to the conclusion: “Overweight is in
danger.”
And “Covid-19” seems to be more dangerous for men than for women and reportedly “in some countries more men are
dying than women: the fatality rate in men is twice as high as in women. Why is fatality rate higher in men than
in women although the infection rate does not differ between the two? Some people think it is due to smoking or
drinking habit, but another reason might be “hand washing.” I hear that there was a shocking report
“in
a survey conducted in 2009, 65% of women washed hands after using a public toilet while only 31% of men
washed hands.”
I think that it might indicate that Corona-chan loves cleanliness and can’t forgive any “guy who picks his nose
without washing hands after using a toilet.” Therefore, overweight men might have to be more careful.
Although there are many hypotheses about why “obesity” aggravates new coronavirus infection disease, the reason
is mostly unknown. But
in yesterday’s
article, I pointed out that “Kafa type” people are more likely to develop severe symptoms of new
coronavirus disease and have to be careful. As a matter of
tact, “Kafa type” is
characterized by obesity.
In Western medicine, it is difficult to explain the difference between people who develop severe symptoms of the
new coronavirus and those who develop mild symptoms. In Ayurveda, however, we can easily explain the difference
with dosha theory. To tell the truth, we should discuss Western medicine by means of the *Chishima theory based
on Ayurveda.

Obesity Linked to Severe Coronavirus Disease, Especially for Younger Patients
Young adults with obesity are more likely to be hospitalized, even if they have no other health problems,
studies show.
Obesity may be one of the most important predictors of severe coronavirus illness,
new studies say. <snip> Obesity is known to cause chronic, low-grade inflammation
and an increase in circulating, pro-inflammatory cytokines, which may play a role in the worst Covid-19
outcomes.
<snip>
Dr. Gulick’s review of data from the first 393 Covid-19 patients admitted toNewYork-Presbyterian/Weill
Cornell Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital identified obesity as a risk factor for admission.
<snip>
Another study from China, which looked at outcomes among a group
of 112 Covid-19 patients, reported that of the 17 patients who died, 15 were either overweight or obese.
More recently, a French study reported that nearly half of 124 Covid-19 patients in
Lille, France, had obesity, twice the rate of a comparison group of
intensive care patients hospitalized for other reasons last year.

At Ochsner Health, a system with 41 hospitals in Louisiana and southern Mississippi,Dr.
Leo Seoane, the company’s senior vice president, said that 60 percent of patients hospitalized with Covid-19 had obesity and
that obesity appeared
to nearly double their risk of requiring a ventilator.

Obesity is major COVID-19 risk factor, says French chief epidemiologist
Reprinted from:
Being overweight is a major risk for people infected with the new coronavirus and
the United States is particularly vulnerable because of high obesity levels
there, France’s chief epidemiologist said on Wednesday.
Professor Jean-François Delfraissy, who heads the scientific council that advises the government on the
epidemic, said as many as 17 million of France’s 67 million citizens were seriously at risk from the coronavirus
because of age, pre-existing illness or obesity.
“This virus is terrible, it can hit young people, in particular obese young people. Those who are overweight really need to be careful,”
Delfraissy told franceinfo radio.
“This virus is terrible, it can hit young people, in particular obese young people. Those who are overweight really need to be careful,”
Delfraissy told franceinfo radio.
“That is why we’re worried about our friends in America, where the problem of obesity is well known and where
they will probably have the most problems because of obesity.”
Delfraissy said 88% of those infected with the coronavirus suffered only severe flu-like symptoms.
The mortality rate for young people entering hospital with severe COVID-19
respiratory disease was about 2%, he said,
but that rose to 14% for people who are more fragile.
