My wife likes NHK announcer Jun Hori very much.  I also have been paying attention to him as one of young people who will open the way for future from early on.  All are not dirty cowards; the same can be said for every organization.  I think that there are many good staff members in NHK.  The point is for respectable people in every organization to work together.  By the way, Mr. Hori will be in charge of a program “Today’s cooking.”  I hope my wife will be better at cooking.  Today’s lunch was a super healthy dish.  Of course, it’s a positive meaning.

On March 11, 2013, NHK announcer Jun Hori, 35, tweeted: “I deeply apologize for not having been able to report the fact properly though I was at the news studio on that day.  Although we NHK had known the existence of SPEEDI, we cancelled reporting our data, following the policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology that concluded that the data “lacked reliability in accuracy.”  We did not play a role as a public broadcast station that has to protect public life and property.  We have to deeply reflect on our failure to act and apologize to people.”  He raised a question about the way NHK reported at the time of the earthquake.

“Our station urges us announcers ‘not to give an opinion in public though each of us has different feeling’.”  He has disclosed the interaction within the station.

After the end of a program “Biz Sports” he was in charge of, in March 2012, Announcer Hori went to the U.S. to study as a guest researcher at UCLA.  At the university he produced a documentary film on the nuclear power plant accidents.  He will come back to work and will be in charge of a program “Today’s cooking.”
