Geometric patterns created by sound Chladni figures
The videos below are about Chladni figures.
According to Wikipedia, “Cover metal, plastic, glass or a bowl tightly with a
plastic wrap, give vibration to the plane with a speaker and change pitch. Resonance
frequency produces some parts which strongly vibrate on the plane and some parts
which become joints and never vibrate. Then sprinkle grains, for example, such
as salt or sand over the plane, and some grains flicked by vibration gather
around joints and geometric patterns can be observed.” The top video in
particular is easy to understand. The middle video seemed to explain why the
planets in the solar system can stay on the same orbit. The bottommost video is
very splendid and beautiful.
These videos are shown in preparation for
an article I’d like to introduce tomorrow.
