Outline & Contents

In truth, da Vinci’s message cannot be decoded by only using Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code as a reference, for the most important link is missing there. Without knowing the concept of hieros gamos or sacred marriage, among others, it is impossible to solve this riddle!
For this reason, the rest of the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle will be gathered in the last half of this lecture focusing on the “Hieros Gamos”. I will show you how they fit together in a new perspective, so that quite another picture will emerge before you in the end.

1. Introduction to the 2nd Half of this Lecture (00:00:05)

2. Descendants of Manichaeism and Their Respective Characteristics (00:01:17)

Let’s look at some symbols painted in da Vinci’s Virgin of the Rocks. If many researchers present shallow infantile interpretations about these symbols, it is because they have little understanding of esotericism. In this regard, it is essential to have some knowledge of Manichaeism from which the Priory of Sion and some other religious bodies, such as the Cathars and the Knights Templar, can be considered to have derived.
As far as the Cathars and the Knights Templar are concerned, they shared quite a similar spiritual background but differed from each other in one critical point. In reference to this contrast, the position of the Priory of Sion, too, will be well understandable.

3. History of Mithraism and Esotericism Up to the Present Age through Manichaeism (00:21:59)

Manichaeism grew out of the faith of Mithraism, assimilating some elements from all neighboring religions. Then, what was Mithraism like? Its origin, process of dissemination to the world, and descendants in the present age will be explained. In Europe, one of those descendants only just subsisted in the Priory of Sion.

4. The Ancient Ritual of Hieros Gamos (00:39:11)

Before Catholicism became prevalent in ancient Rome, the Hieros Gamos or “sacred marriage” ritual was widely practiced in the civilizations of the world. Seen in this light, it becomes clear what the anointing of Jesus by Mary of Bethany signified. This, in turn, will clarify a surprising fact about the painting of “Mona Lisa”.

5. The ancient Gnosis and the Hieros Gamos (00:56:51)

The description related to the sacred marriage in the Gnostic Gospel of Philip will be explained at this occasion. This also helps explain the reason da Vinci painted a portrait of himself with a crown of thorns. The audience is invited to get the picture of ancient Gnosticism, a religion which was suppressed by Catholicism because of its irreconcilable differences.

6. Da Vinci’s Hidden Message Revealed (01:09:26)

Now, all necessary pieces have been prepared for completing the jigsaw puzzle. Here, da Vinci’s hidden faith regarding the Hieros Gamos is to be revealed.

End (01:18:54)
